| Vw's Magotan to Compete With Toyota's Camry |
Volkswagen AG, Europe's largest automaker and the biggest overseas carmaker in China has started selling Magotan sedans in the country and in the process challenging Toyota Motor Corp.'s Camry which is equipped with high quality Toyota thermostat.
The Magotan sedans are equipped with 1.8-liter or 2-liter engine and have a base price starting 192,800 yuan or $25,000 basing in an email coming from Volkswagen. On the other hand Toyota's China-made Camry has a price that starts at 197,800 yuan more expensive than the Magotan by 5,000 yuan.

Japan's Isuzu Motors Ltd. said Thursday that it is considering a set up in a joint venture to produce diesel engines with Toyota Motor Corp. as part of the tie-up which was announced by the two firms last year.
The truck maker and the world's number one car maker have been discussing details of their alliance in development and production of diesel engines since they formed the tie-up.

| Toyota Mum on Reports of Charges Dropped in Probe of Neglected Recalls |
A major Japanese business daily reported in Tuesday that prosecutors have decided against filing charges against three Toyota officials under investigation on distrust of avoiding recalls that may have led to an accident.
Paul Nolasco, Toyota Motor Corporation's spokesman, declined to comment on The Nikkei report saying that the company was not yet officially notified of any decision. Prosecutors in Kumamoto, in southern Japan where the accident happened, also declined to comment. Toyota has denied the wrongdoing in the case.

| Toyota Spends 1.2 Billion Baht to Acquire Tasi |
Toyota Boshuku Japan, Toyota's main automotive interior systems supplier, is spending 1.2 billion baht to purchase a local automotive seat producer, the Thai Automotive Seating and Interior Co (TASI).
Earlier, Toyota Boshuku held a stake of 50 percent in TASI. NHK Spring in Thailand with 35 percent and NHK Spring Japan are other stake holders. The deal has been made through Toyota Boshuku Asia Co., Toyota Boshuku's Thai operation. Toyota Boshuku Asia general manager Akihiko Shimanouchi said that Toyota Boshuku Japan and Toyota Boshuku Asia would hold 50 percent each in TASI after the acquisition.
