Toyota has recently announced a safety recall of around 30,500 2007-2008 Lexus ES 350 models and some 24,500 2007-2008 Toyota Camry models that are equipped with an optional all-weather floor mat.

Last Wednesday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued new protective rules that require all 2013 model vehicles to be equipped with side airbags. The new rule takes effect on September 2012. The US government wants added protection for its motorists in connection to the side impact crashes which have become so prevalent, causing death to thousands of passengers and drivers and leaving others with debilitating brain injuries.

The recent 2007 Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) conducted by J.D. Power and Associates shows that Toyota Motor Corp.'s Lexus luxury division and General Motors' Buick brand ranked as the highest vehicle nameplates in terms of dependability. J.D. Power and Associates said that this is "the first time that another brand ties with Lexus for the highest-rank position."

The year 2007 must be a very good year for Toyota, especially its luxury division, Lexus. For the first half of the year, the brand had already garnered several awards from international automotive award giving bodies. Aside from being the best selling luxury car in the United States, its features of sophistication and aristocracy makes it exceptional from other car brands and deserves nothing but to be distinguished.

Just recently, Toyota's luxury car brand Lexus won the 2007 J.D. Power's Vehicle Dependability Study and among the line-up of cars being tested Lexus received the lowest noted problems regarding quality and dependability.
