New Bmw 1 Series Coupe Makes U.s. Debut

The much awaited BMW 1 Series Coupe model has finally arrived in the United States and made its official North American debut at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show. This high performance BMW coupe model is scheduled to arrive in BMW dealer showrooms all over the U.S. starting in the spring of 2008. Only two model variants of the BMW 1 Series Coupe will be available in the U.S. market, the BMW 128i and the BMW 135i. However, the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of BMW 1 Series Coupe is not yet announced.

Gm-toyota Faces Lawsuit for Hiding Vehicle Defects

In a lawsuit filed at the start of November, an employee in a plant run by two giant automakers, General Motors and Toyota Motor Corp. complained that her supervisors allow serious defects in their produced vehicles. The defects the worker said includes faulty seat belts and braking which can jeopardize the safety of the driver and passengers.

Saab Xwd “cross Wheel Drive” System

Saab, the Swedish automaker, has developed the XWD "Cross Wheel Drive" system, with intention to optimize vehicle handling and stability in all driving conditions. Currently, the system is being offered as an option in the 2008 Saab Turbo X and Aero versions of the 9-3 Sport Sedan and SportCombi. It is being partnered with a 280 hp (206 kW), 2.8 V6 turbo engine that produces almost 15 percent more maximum torque of 400 Nm/295 lbs.-ft.), to enhance the available traction.

Mileage Standards Getting Higher Amidst Strong Oppositions

While Los Angeles is feasting on hydrogen powered Chevrolet, super fuel-efficient gasoline engine on a Lincoln or a Hybrid Dodge, carmakers in Washington is fighting hard against a new federal mileage standards. "They're definitely saying one thing to Congress and one thing to consumers," says Phyllis Cuttino, director of the Pew Campaign for Fuel Efficiency, an environmental group lobbying for tougher fuel-efficiency rules. Last week, Toyota Motor Corp. the creator of the famous Prius was persecuted by environmentalist group in one full page ad in the USA Today as the automaker opposes the mileage proposal.

Saab's New Driver Attention Warning System

General Motors Corporation's Saab Automobile division has recently established a new development project that aims to provide solution for the most typical causes of car accidents, which include drowsy and distracted driving, as well as inattention to the steering wheel. Called the Saab Driver Attention Warning System, this new automotive feature can alert the driver through voice and text messages when it detects signs of drowsiness or inattention. In addition, the system can also alert the driver using vibrations on the seat cushion.
